VI. Inherited Sin
A. Biblical Testimony
· All sinned(somehow in Adam)
· People died from Adam to Moses, though there was no written law
One man's sin brought condemnation and death's reign
· Many are condemned and died for the trespass of the one man, Adam:
· Death comes through the sin of the one man:
One man's disobedience made all men sinners
· We are condemned for the trespass of the one man
· We are made sinners through the disobedience of the one man
B. Transmission of Guilt
1. Realistic view
We somehow existed in him before we were even born:
We were all "in the loins of Adam" when he sinned.
2. Representative view
God appointed Adam to represent the human race as a whole, so that his decisions are "imputed" to us"
God declares Adam 's decisions are ours
C. Transmission of Corruption
· We are born sinful in the root of our being, the heart, and it is from that sinful heart that come all our thoughts, words, and deeds.
· Nature of Corruption(total Depravity)
1. Pervasiveness: Sinfulness pervades to every aspect of human nature.
· Corruption extends to reason and will as well as to appetites and impulses.
2. Spiritual inability: Even good deeds are not prompted by love to G, or done in voluntary obedience to the will of G.
3. Universal : all have sinned.salvific
VII. Actual Sins
Sins we commit day by day
· They do not affect our legal standing with G
· They neretheless disrupts our fellowship with G
· As we repent, those sins become an occasion for growth.
· Covenant
· Basic concepts

· Covenant is a relations between the Lord and a people he has sovereignly consecrated to himself.

· As Lord G…

· He is committed to us to walk with us, entering into our life, loving, guiding, discipling. In response he calls for our trust and obedience, e.g., Enoch(Gn 3:24)
· Charactristics
a. G's covenant is a personal relationship, for he begins by giving us his name. His name is Lord, and he is the Lord our G(DT 31-34)
b. Law follows grace. G by grace sovereignly chose. Is and then gave the Ten commandments
d. Law of love motivates us to keep other laws: don't make graven images to bow down to them; don't take my name in vain; remember the Sabbath; honor your parents etc.(Dt 6; Ex 20)
