[Being and Time] book

B. History of Ontology

C. Return to being

D. Language is the way into being

E. Human existence is "being there" (Dasein)

F. Analysis of Dasein

1. the being of Dasein is not properties but possibilities

2. Being in the world is not spatial but relational

3. the world orders every element within it by concern/care

4. being-within-the-world entails being-with-others.

5. fallenness.

6. Fallenness is not just a side effect of bad choices. It is of the essence of human existence. We have 'fallen' into a world of others. But it is possible to come out of inauthenticity through Sorge: care for Being and care for beings, care for the future, for the past, and for the community.

7.

There is no transcendence - no room for God

While ordinary life and beliefs generally do not require philosophical foundations, there is no method of distinguishing truth from error.

Metaphysical abstraction of the subject over against the object does not falsify our understanding  of reality.

Ontological consideration cannot completely do away with traditional "tools" of metaphysics: the questions presuppose them.

Care / second level of care
